"If you haven't encountered Plena before, one of the great musical traditions of Puerto Rico, this album is a great place to start. It's a beautifully conceived project wonderfully well executed. Be prepared to hear great soulful vocals with terrific folky arrangements."

"This is an amazing CD. When I first discovered it a few years ago, I felt like I found something antique and valuable. I still feel that way. The most interesting cut on the CD is "Tilin", which almost any African American raised on the East Coast will recognize from Sunday school as "He 'Rose". Whether the tune came from Africa to both Borinquen and the States,or the early Puerto Rican migrants brought it to the States where it was adapted by African Americans, it shows a clear overlap of cultures. The CD should be your first purchase, if you're interested in learning about bomba y plena."

"This album is one their best. Especially their fine tribute to a true "son" of Puerto Rico Pedro Albizu-Campos. One of the islands most vocal leaders/statesman. Who voraciously fought for Puerto Ricos Independence, during the the early part of the 20th century. The albums beautiful blends of "Bomba y Plena" help mark the islands unique folklorical history and music. The album is a real joy to listen too."
