You may want to revise that statement considering PMD produced the first 3 EPMD albums by himself. Erick's fingerprints weren't all over the beats untill Business Never Personal. I always liked PMD more on the mic too, even though Erick is great. The delivery from the slow flower was raw, combining with his excelent tone of voice, he always came off as a bad-@$$. For some reason people felt like after the split they had to decide who was responsible for EPMD's success, but people who do that are just herbs. It was a team effort, PMD was just as much if not more part of it than Erick. This first solo album, Shady Business, is a good record. Beats are dark and experimental, sometimes abstract. It has a real original sound to it. Definantly should be in your collection. His best solo album, beats and rhyming, though is Business is Business."

"When this dropped it got uber dissed. At that time The Source and a lot of the Hip-Hop media was on the side of Eric Sermon, Redman, Keith Murray etc. ...so when Parish went for dolo, he got booed. I was one of the many that went the way of Def Squad and didn't even try listening to PMD's record. The only track I heard was "I Saw it Coming" which I dismissed at the time; because everybody had used the Ohio Player's "Funky Worm" to death.



When his 2nd solo effort was released, I heard a few joints and was presently suprised how dope it was, but still didn't check the LP. Only in the last year and a half I picked up these albums and regret not picking them up when they first came out. The beats are dope, rugged, Timberland and hoodie type ish! Them ol'school joints that you'd jam in the jeep or rock on the headphones when riding the bus or train. DOPE!!!



Yeah, it was sad when EPMD broke up, but BOTH emcees were doing dope music, not just Eric."

"This for true hip hop heads only. This album was highly slept-on and underrated. This was PMD's first CD release since he parted ways with Erick Sermon. (They were the hip hop group EPMD) But I loved this album. My favorite cuts off this CD were, "Shade Business", "Leave Your Style Cramped", "Swing Your Own Way", and the first single off the CD, "I Saw It Cummin'". I also loved the video of "I Saw It Cummin", mainly because it had my dog in there, Jalen Rose. If you are a fan of PMD, then you'll be satisfied with this album. Also, I'll let you know that PMD will be out soon with his new CD sometime in June 2003, titled "The Awakening". So, of course I'm going to buy this CD as well, and I'll be back on here to give you all the 411 on that album."
