"Emotionally and spiritually intense. Each song leaves you pondering your relationship with God. The music is as superb as any Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd album. This is an album which is best when listened to from beginning to end. "Hello Sunny Weather" is almost reminiscent of "Hey You" or "Comfortably Numb" from Pink Floyd's classic "The Wall" album. The musical arrangement and lyrics on "Receive" are just as intense and relevent as the Doors' "Waiting For The Sun" or "Riders On The Storm". Poor Old Lu's vocals are just as alluring as their music. All the way around these guys really rock yet they also inspire."

"This isn't something I listen to every day - but I listened to it once, and it has become a part of me.



I'm here now because once, many years ago, I saw Poor Old Lu live at the Cornerstone music festival and instantly fell in love with them. They were my favorite band there (out of a very large and diverse assortment); this same night they announced that they weren't planning on playing anymore, as they were going to college in different states, etc.



Many years after that night, I can still sing the lyrics from "Receive", I still remember "Joy I had was Joy I sold" and "The Weeds that Grow Around my Feet". I can still sing along with "Hello Sunny Weather". I don't know exactly why this album has stuck in my head - I've looked high and low wondering if perhaps I had a copy of the disc, but I don't believe I'd ever owned one. It is simply really good music that's memorable enough to last.



I finally bought it today. I shouldn't have waited this long - you can't fight fate, sometimes. If you've never heard of Poor Old Lu, it doesn't matter if you are a die-hard christian or just someone searching for music that means something in our present day of catchy meaningless hooks (look no further than the Black-Eyed Peas latest release or 50-Cent). A Picture of the Eighth Wonder is one of my most favorite all-time CDs, quietly resting in the back of my mind, and not even on my shelf yet. Check it out!"
