"This is the second cd by Portal an independant band from Canada. Portal's first release in 2001 was titled appropriately "A Taste of Things to Come..." and the third cd from 2005 is "Element". More information on the band can be found on their website at portalband.com which I used to buy all three of their cds.



With the basic background out of the way, on to the cd itself. Portal is one of those rare bands that doesn't assume that it's listeners are idiots which accounts for lyrics that display the intellect of the members of Portal. They combine rock with electronica to create a sound that is different from many bands out there. This album leans more towards rock with a faster pace at times as in the song Cathexis, and other tracks are calm and melodic ie Paradigm.



With a rich display of talent, both in music and songwriting, Portal has created a cult following. Individual customers can often find themselves in correspondence with the band itself as I have at times. Portal is a relatively small band with the talent to become a major success. Vast... as fans call it, is a great album which will likely spark your interest in their other albums. But don't take my word for it, go visit their website and listen to the songs themselves."
