CD ReviewsWonderful collection Michael Tillman | Dallas TX | 10/05/2007 (5 out of 5 stars) "I am a huge fan of Poulenc, I own just about everything he's written that I can find, save some of the choral works. I even managed to get a recording of Mamelles de Tiresias off of Amazon.
I have quite a few discs of Poulenc's Melodies, probably 5 version of Trevail du Peintre alone. This is a wonderful set, a good variety of voice and performance. It takes a great deal to perform Poulenc well, it would be beyond the confines of purely technical ability - the vast spectrum of emotion is the river from which his musical voice flowed. That being said, I have not been dissappointed by any of the recordings here, and its so nice to have such a good recording of all the melodies." |
