"Hello everyone, I'm a belgian fan from Praga Khan. I know his work for years now. Praga (Maurice Engelen), who is a belgian too, started to make his kind of dance music at the end of the eighties. At that time, here in Belgium, it was called "New Beat". I'm gonna spare you the history of New Beat, the only thing I can tell you about this is, Praga Khan was at that time one of the major composers and producers of the belgian house-scene. His music was played all over the clubs in Belgium and even all over Europe. A few examples of his projects are: "Major Problem - Acid Queen", "Lords of Acid - I Sit On Acid", "Jade 4 U - That Boy"... . If you can find these ones, you really have too, it's worth it. Of course you can't compare that music with the one he's making the last couple of years. "Mutant Funk" is magnificent, "Twenty First Century Skin" was even better. My message to you people is: the ones who already know Praga, try to find his retro eighties work and for the ones who don't know him, just buy his latest two albums and enjoy the art of good dance music.Greetings to you all. "Being a long time, die-hard fan of LOA, I've heard lots of examples of Praga's stylings. His solo work somehow manages to surpass even them sometimes in his powerful tracks, and this album isn't an exception. Praga puts a lot of energy into his music, which is obvious from the start of the CD. If you enjoy edgy, driving, thumping basslines, mixed with intelligent sprinklings of lyrics and relaxing melodies, this album has them all."

Praga Kahn appeals to the masses

"I am another Praga Khan fan who was introduced via the Lords of Acid. His Pragmatic album took me a bit to adjust (seeing how I expected a lot of similarity with the LOA), but it grew on me a lot. And 21stCenturySkin, I loved Vivions and Imaginations. But Mutant Funk just seems more detailed. There is a lot more sampling and sounds layered into each piece, and there is a lot of variety. For example, Praga changes his style in Sayonara Greetings, which has a drum'n'bass feel to it (reminded me of AK1200). The Power of the Flower is both relaxing and upbeat, almost trance-like. Although I like the whole album, for hard-hitting stuff (like the Pragmatic album), the last track, Eyeless in El Paso, brings some serious energy (although the distorted voice is awkward). If you're like me and don't care about specific genres but rather good songs, this has something for everyone. Highly recommended!"
