"My name is Jayson and I am 13. I found this CD in a bin at a gas station when I was on a trip to see my aunt. The CD was only 4 dollars so I bought it. our car only has a tape player, so I had to wait until I got to my aunt's house to play it. And, WOW. this is the type of CD that makes you want to listen to it. I also like the aligator eating the phonograph on the cover. five stars."

One of the best "shag music" compilations I've found

"Given that I'm from the lowcountry of South Carolina, I'm always on the lookout for great catch-all albums that provide tunes for the mood of shag dancing--a popular dance in SC. Whereas there are lots of tunes that one can shag to, everyone has their favorites. This album happens to cover quite a few of mine and has many of the original artists singing their own songs...not always the case on such collections. I especially like the super line-up of songs which starts with a rousing tunes like "Carolina Girls" and "Mr. Beach" and brings you to a fever pitch with sing-a-long shag classics like "Build Me Up". The only criticism I can offer is that all the good tunes are in the first half of the album. As you get to the last 5 or 6 songs, you get into the realm of the less-familiar, and I often find myself either skipping to the next song or switching to another cd altogether.In all, Preppy Deluxe is still the best collection of shag tunes I've been able to find, and I use it often to teach my friends the coveted art of "shagging"...the Charleston way."

"This is a great collection but the tracks listed here on the website are slightly different than the ones actually on the CD. I had the "original" which did have these exact tracks but lost it. I have been searching for the "original" but have not been able to find it. I ordered this one but ended up returning it because it was missing some of the key songs I wanted. Beware."
