"The Proclaimers first album is a powerful statement. This says a lot particularly since it's almost entirely acoustic (one song, "Letter From America" gets the full band treatment). The Proclaimers are unashamedly Scottish and, unlike Sheena Easton, do not try to mask their accents. The first track, "Throw the R Away" makes lighthearted fun of their thick accents to the backbeat of a Buddy Holly riff. The songs on this album run the gamut from love to politics to spirituality. While there isn't a "500 Miles" on this disc, there are many powerful songs. The Reid brothers harmonies are in full swell here. A must have for any music fan."

"I just bought this after hearing "Over and Done With" in the movie "Bottle Rocket." I can't stop listening to this CD. Track 4 - "The Part that Really Matters" - is wonderful. Several great songs."
It's great

"Great album, definitely worth buying if you like anything else by the Proclaimers. They're no one-hit-wonder band. Particular stand-outs: 'Throw the R Away' and 'Burn your Playhouse Down,' which are catchy and funny, and 'Letter from America,' which is poignant and just good music. Talented singers, great harmony."

"I'm a HUGE Proclaimers fan and this album holds a few of my all time fave. songs like; "Throw the 'R' Away", "Sky Takes The Soul", "The Joyful Kilmarnonk Blues", and of course "Letter From America". I can listen to this album from beginning to end without wanting to skip over a single song! It's truely one of the best CD I have in my whole collection! I highly recommend this album!"
