Project Born - "Born Dead EP" (5 stars)

"In 1994, an underground hip-hop duo by the name of Project Born, consisting of Frank Nitty and Lil' Half Pint, released their debut 6-track EP "Born Dead" on Psychopathic Records. This was the first record anyone besides Insane Clown Posse had released on Psychopathic Records. And this 34 minute album is 100% completely Flawless.

Frank Nitty has a nasal-ish, full-throated flow and his lyrics consist of street/thug life, selling drugs and even traditional Detroit influenced horrorcore rap. While Lil' Half Pint has a more crisp, clean voice and flow and his lyrics have the same consistency of Frank Nitty. As for the superior of the two, I can't rule it out, they both are top-notch for me.

As for the beats, I couldn't ask for better. Once again Mike E. Clark proved why he is one of the most talented producers in underground hip-hop. Other producers on this album are Esham The Unholy and Project Born themselves. The beats here are a mixture of gangsta rap, g-funk and horrorcore. And it's a very good mix! Every beat on here is great in its own way.

Here's my individual track ratings.

01. "Go To War" (A+)

02. "Let It Go" (A+)

03. "Losin' It (ft. Esham The Unholy)" (A+) (favorite)

04. "Bigga Balls" (A+)

05. "From The Get Go" (A+)

06. "Graveyard (ft. Insane Clown Posse)" (A+)

There it is. So to put it in prospective, this is a classic. Short, but sweet. Big things come in small packages. Although this album is well over a decade out of print, you can still download it at various websites. It's just a shame that they were dropped off the label soon after this was released. I recommend this to gangsta rap fans, horrorcore rap fans and those who enjoy Insane Clown Posse, Esham, Three 6 Mafia and so on. Go ahead and download this. It is well worth the megabytes. Peace.
