(4 out of 5 stars)
"punchline are my favourite band by far, they just seem to deliver the perfect type of music to suit me...
and some of these songs on this almost are some of their best
first track: ghostie!
oh my god, i love this song, it's addictive... i can understand why they put this track first as it instantly sets a good vibe for the cd... i didn't like it the chorus at first but now i love it, one of the best punchline choruses that makes the entire cd seem good 9/10
2. The Hit
that's just what it is...a hit... they released this song a few months ago and i heard rumour it wasn't going to be on their new cd... because of that i was majorly disappointed. but i was happy to find out that it was on there... it's an awesome song. also one of the best on the album... gives some punchline that perhaps hadn't been seen before. 8/10
3. Punish or Privilege
not fantastic... not terrible either... but it's a bit of a jump from the fantastic opening two tracks... it's catchy and, in fact, i've had it in my head all day... but it could have been way better 6/10
4. Maybe I'm wrong
just slow, which is not the type of song i'm into... lack's the quality and aggressiveness that the old slow punchline songs had and it's very soft, not my cup of tea though 4/10
5. Somewhere in the dark
great transition and contrast from track four to track five... up-beat piano the entire way through the song which is something that has not been heard by punchline before... catchy. witty. great... be warned though, people may not like it at first and the piano can seem a bit too much... but after hearing it over and over, you'll learn to love it 7/10
6. Just say yes
captivating, calming.... a quality slow song similar to those heard on their second album 'action'... it's catchy, and just awesome... 8/10
7. How does this happen?
tells a story of three different individuals similar to that of 'caller 10' on their last album '37 everywhere'... chorus is catchy, and so is the song... some parts are a bit wobbly but overall, it is a quality song 7/10
8. Get off my train
MOST CATCHIEST PUNCHLINE SONG EVER
instantly one of my favourite punchline songs... chorus is awesome and it is always in my head, causing my friends to be annoyed when i randomly break into song... innovative, different. just plain awesome... clear best song on the cd. 10/10
9. Developing you, camera
from here on in, the cd disappoints me... boring slow songs lacking quality, which usually causes me to skip back to track one and listen to the first 8 songs again. I value them for always trying new things but the songs lack the usual aggresive feel... least favourite song on the cd 2/10
10. My white collared shirt
lacks strength.... not usual punchline... makes me wonder whether it was wrtten by someone else because it's something i'd expect from a different band... 3/10
11. The Other Piano Man
Now i like this song, instantly gets into it and it's much different to anything they've done before... it's an interesting song, yet a criticism is that the voices in the background in the bridges get annoying and distracting and take away from the quality of the song. features a strong piano again, yet the random voices ruin the song 6/10
12. castaway
makes me feel strange... not the way punchline usually end their cds... it kinda put's a dampener on the entire cd... it'd be interesting to find out the influence for this song. it's not terrible... but there's something strange about it... slow, but not bad like some of the others on the cd... the repetition of castaway, gets annoying lol... 4/10
overall the first 8 songs on the cd is where the quality's at... perhaps i would have preferred the cd if the faster more aggresive songs were mixed in with the softer slower songs a bit more but they tried to mix them around a bit.. still one if the best purchases i've made as the 6 or so songs that i really like are worth all the money i paid and even more...
despite it's flaws, i would highly recommend this album"
