Quintessence - 'Self / Indweller' (Drop Out)

"Another must-have two underground classic albums on 1-CD. Haven't stumbled across any titles on the UK label Drop Out for sometime now. Here, we get two titles from the 'ethnic progressive' {is there even such a genre?} of Quintessence's repertoire - 'Self' ('71) and it's follow-up 'Indweller' ('72). Total of nineteen tracks with a duration of 78:58. Cuts off 'Self' I couldn't get enough of were the awesome "Cosmic Surfer", the out-of-this-world tripping "Vishnu Narain", "Hallelujah" and the upbeat "Freedom". Then what made 'Indweller' so memorable were the opening fourteen-minute epic "Jesus Is My Life", "Portable Realm", "Sai Baba" and "Bliss Trip". For you completists, I saw somewhere that both these titles are currently being reissued again (with bonus tracks) on the Esoteric label - check out their site when you can. They have tons of great CD reissues - more than the eye can grasp. Recommended."
