"Being an opinionated music critic myself, I'm adverse to praising music guide books, since they always contain reviews with which I am so vehemently opposed that I have to assume they were written by morons, But the best of a questionable lot has to be The Penguin Record Guide and principally because they turned me on to a pianist I had never heard of and nobody I know had ever heard of or seen! - But Penguin gave their highest rating to this guy who goes by the name of "Santiago Rodriguez," who records for a company I've never heard of either (Elan), and who seems to play only one composer:(Sergei Rachmaninov).

Now people, this guy doesn't just play Rachmaninov, HE IS RACHMANINOV! From the first note, the first chord, you gasp as he envelops you, and transports you in a way that even Horowitz rarely could.

Buy this, or another of his Rachmaninov CDs, and he's got you. - A simply unmissable experience!"
