"Radio Gold has an incredible thirty (yes, thirty) tracks of some of the greatest rock and roll music from the 1950s. The sound is rather good and the songs will bring back memories!



Ritchie Valens performs "La Bamba" in English and Spanish with some great electric guitar and percussion; and listen also for The Everly Brothers to sing their classic "Wake Up Little Susie." They sing a great song about how they had so much fun with Susie that they stayed out way too late. The guitars help the number along and The Everly Brothers harmonize very, very well. Moreover, Dion's "The Wanderer" really rocks! Great backup chorus on "The Wanderer," too.



The Chordettes perform one of my very favorites on this CD, "Mr. Sandman." They harmonize and the musical arrangement with its brass swings brightly while The Chordettes do it up right! The Shirelles also do a wonderful job with their own classic hit, "Will You Love Me Tomorrow?"



Another major highlight of this album is done by The Crests as they sing "Sixteen Candles." "Sixteen Candles" is a sweet number that uses the guitars, percussion and great harmonizing to make this a memorable number for me. The Chiffons perform a triumphant sounding "One Fine Day." Even though the lyrics are about a boy who hasn't learned to love them yet; the upbeat melody indicates The Chiffons aren't about to give up hope!



Dion returns again to perform "Runaround Sue;" this peppy number gets a great arrangement as he sings of a girl the boys might want to pass by. The backup harmonizing adds energy to "Runaround Sue" and Dion doesn't miss a beat! Jesse Belvin sings a passionate, sensitive rendition of "Goodnight My Love;" and Little Richard's "Good Golly, Miss Molly" rocks hard--an awesome tune!



The artwork impresses me, too.



If awesome early rock and roll music makes you smile and dance then you simply can't afford to go without this fine CD. I highly recommend this album for all fans of early rock and roll.
