Surprising beauty, very well played

"Listening to this CD again, for the fourth time, I liked it well enough to order three copies to give to special friends. Sentimental? Well, I am a trained musician, and have sung Hindemith and Brahms in Carnegie Hall, years ago true, and still write my own music, and I play with the Resurrection Trombone Choir. My friends think I'm a bit toffee-nosed on music. (Am not!) Simply, love this record. Said this way to be brief. Buy it: you'll not be disappointd."

"Sampler CDs are usually under-rated, possibly because they end up in bargain bins. But they are often the most enjoyable albums, because they present a variety of fine recordings from older catalogs. I first heard FOR A RAINY DAY when we carried it at my store, and I played the demo several times a week. Customers who heard it always bought it.

Don't let the title fool you, these pieces aren't sad. Even when they're melancholy, they express bright emotions too. This perfomance of "The Lark Ascending" is my favorite, the absolute Must Buy if you're shopping for MP3 downloads. Otherwise, spend a little money on this CD. I promise, you'll play it often."
