Glad to see ya go

"This was a really anticipated album, mainly because Johnny sent out a feeler throughout the underground before this was released basically saying that if it didn't sell substantial amounts, then the Ramones were calling it quits. Too bad it didn't sell, like all of thier other albums (not by me, cuz I bought 'em all).
After the total disaster of the all 60's covers "Acid Eaters" (Please see my review of this pathetic album), this was pretty good, actually. The production is tight, the guitars are forward in the mix, the bass is thudding and heavy, and there are no "pop" songs (except maybe for "It's Gonna Be Okay"). The cover of Wait's "I Don't Wanna Grow Up" should have been written by the Ramones, and thier version is vintage Ramones, pure and simple. In fact, it's the best song they did on ANY album after "Too Tough To Die". "She Talks To Rainbows" is heavy and sweet (I love how Joey croons "She don't talk to me" at the end of the song), "Cretin Family" shows why Dee Dee Ramone was hands down the best punk rock songwriter of all time (hell, the best ROCK 'N ROLL songwriter for that matter), and C. Jay FINALLY came through with his promise to write songs, with the delighfully idiotic "I Got A Lot To Say" and the decidedly UN-Ramones like "Scattergun". I really hated C. Jay, but I guess it was cool because the Ramones endured because of him and Dee Dee wrote half the songs after C. Jay joined the band anyway. C. Jay just didn't have the "thing" that Dee Dee did, and yes, certain people like Dee Dee Ramone and Keith Richards are better stoned, drunk, and wired, because this makes them miserable enough to pen good songs with true attitude. "Scattergun" is a prime example of why C. Jay just didn;t cut the mustard as fas as replacing Dee Dee went, but hey, at least C. Jay sorta sounded like Dee Dee which meant I still got to hear "Warthog" at every show I saw (all 36 of 'em) after C. Jay joined the band as Johnny idiot savant.
Anyways, if you want a decent post 80's Ramones album, then this is the one to get. Only DON'T buy this $18 dollar version, buy a used copy. Johhny Ramone woudl turn in his grave if he knew a record company was charging that much for a Ramones album. You know what I mean, seeing that the Rhino reissues (with demos and bonus tracks on each cd) are only around $11 bucks each. That's Ramones style for ya!
Take it easy, and try to only shoot up the "good" heroin!
Gabba Gabba Hey!!!!"
Very good...not a classic

"When you have made classic, genre defining records, music created later in a career gets compared, unfairly in my opinion, to the earlier work. That's why McCartney's solo work, though very good at times, gets slagged, as does music by The Who, Elton John, and many others. It is tough competing against yourself.
Adios Amigos is a very good, nearly excellent rock album. You couldn't expect the Ramones to recreate "Rocket To Russia" because they werent the same band or the same men. What they did do was a very good, rocking set that embodied the best, at times, of what made them special."
I like it, definately one of the lesser albums they did..

"but can you blame them? obviously, the album sounds a bit melancholic due to it is their last album...anyways, if you want the most consistent post "too tough to die" album, Brain Drain is your man..halfway to sanity is a worthy choice too...that being said, this album isn't bad..just a bit...pale in comparison to their others. although the crusher, lifes a gas, and take the pain away are ace...not to mention the bonus on this version..the Motorhead cover...it's kind of disappointing how rhino doesn't re-issue all of their cds...i mean yeah, this version is remastered with a bonus track, etc...but where is the expansive analysis of the songs...and the bonus outtake b-sides, demos, lives tracks etc...sadly, this 18 dollar one is the most complete version of this album(brain drain, mondo bizarro, and acid eaters as well) out there as i write this.
c'mon rhino, expanded editions similar to the first 8 would be pleasing!
