RANDY EDELMAN SINGS GOOD AS WELL

"Randy Edelman is very well-known for all the soundtracks he wrote & produced in the past 20 years but he really started out as a singer-songwriter in the Seventies.I think he had released 8 to 9 albums in those days before he switched over to soundtracks & movie scores. I managed to own 4 of those in vinyl and "Fairwell Fairbanks" was the best of those four. I gave it 5 stars was because it did not have a single bad song in it. Among which were his own version of "Weekend In New England" & "You" which he wrote respectively for Barry Manilow & the Carpenters. Apart from these two, other tracks like "Blue Street", "Uptown Uptemp Woman". "Fresh Out A Love" & "Let The Sailors Dance" also stood out. "Concrete & Clay' was the only song not written by Randy but had became a top20 hit in England when it was released.If you are old enough to appreciate the 70's music, Randy Edelman is a composer you cannot afford to miss.Apart from this CD, "Prime Cuts" was the other being re-released in CD recently although not yet listed on Amazon's library. I had contacted the publisher in Japan and they told me they are working on re-issuing his other works, of course, provided the copyrights concerns are resolved. So stay tuned for Edelman's fans."

"Edelman Reminds me of an early mellow Billy Joel. Uptown Uptempo Woman is one of the best songs ever made. Randy is now more known for his movie work. One of Edelman's strengths is the way he ties the emotion of his arrangements with great lyrics. It is sad he had more success as a performer in England"

"I am a huge Manilow and Carpenters fan and I noticed Randy had written tunes for both back in the day. Let's cut to the chase--the guy knows how to write hooky, melodic pop tunes, some of the best ever. His version of "Concrete And Clay" is worth it alone, but "Blue Street," "Highway Affair," "Uptown Uptempo Woman"...there really isn't a weak song in the group. The version of "Weekend in New England" may not float your boat if you're used to Manilow, but it's the original, so it's worth a listen or several to be sure. If you ever find yourself wishing music was once again the way it was in the piano-based portion of the 70's, you owe it to yourself to get this CD."

"I have this collection on LP only. Unfortunately, I cannot afford the imported CD. I do wish someone would release this in the US. This is one of the best albums I ever had and I still enjoy it. This collection of Randy Edleman's is 70's music that remains "undated" as far as enjoyable. If you can afford to buy this CD as an import, then by all means do, you won't regret it, in fact, you'll love it."
