"I am not big on writing reviews on anything. But I am compelled to put in my two cents here. I have been hooked on "In the shadows" ever since I saw the video for it. Never cared to actually explore the entire album. Now I finally have. The CD sounds a little repetitive in terms of music melody of the tracks, but it definitely hits the spot for me, so I must give it 5 stars."

Bon Jovis of Finland?

The Rasmus is a rock band from Finland that goes back to 1994, though I only got to know them in 2004. Apparently, they have a lot of followers in Finland, Estonia, and Russia, and are gaining interest in Germany and England. Interestingly, when I first listened to this album it was not yet released in the United States.



This is their fifth album, and although the lyrics are not very original and the rhymes even more so (I am very particular to rhymes), the emotion seems to be very sincere. The melody is very simple and easy to catch on - which is why I had a feeling that Koreans would like this band (they do).



Their music is rock-- it's like a more pop version of Dream Theater and a man's version of Evanescence, energetic with a darkish flavour. Their style is very consistant in all their songs, and if I didn't know, I would have thought they were from New Jersey, not Finland. It would be an overstatement to say they are the Bon Jovis of Finland, but you get my point. I was also surprised at their English accent, no hint of Europe here, either.



My favorite song was track 3, which is not the title song, nor was mentioned in any of the main reviews. I didn't find the chorus section very tasteful, but the melody and lyrics were pretty. I thought it would be nice if it were included in the OST of American Pie 3. I can't say much for the movie, but as far as film soundtracks go, I guess that's a compliment."
