CD ReviewsGood album blbooks | 08/22/2005 (4 out of 5 stars) "Ray Boltz's THE UNCHANGING STORY would serve as a good introduction to the music and message of Ray Boltz since many of the songs are taken from previous albums.
THE UNCHANGING STORY is a cd with a mission: to tell through music the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. (Similar to Michael Card's two-disc album THE LIFE and Rich Mullin's two-disc JESUS album.) The first song "The Unchanging Story" (2004) serves as a proper introduction to the cd. The song is about how "the unchanging story" of the Bible...has the power and authority to change lives. "The unchanging story is still changing me." It is musically pleasing...typical Ray Boltz style. 5 stars "Lion of Judah" (1988) is from the album THANK YOU. The song is about how Jesus fulfilled the Old Testament prophecies. Nice song. 5 stars "Oh What A Beautiful Name" (1997???) is from A CHRISTMAS ALBUM. It is a song adapted from a hymn "That Beautiful Name." It is a nice worship song. 5 stars. "Still Her Little Child" (1991???) is from ANOTHER CHILD TO HOLD. A Mary's perspective type of song. Nice song. 4 stars. "I Want To See Him" (1992???) is from ANOTHER CHILD TO HOLD. A song about a man wanting to be healed by Jesus as he was walking through his village. Good song. 4 stars. "Touching Him" (has appeared on numerous albums from Watch the Lamb to Concert of A Lifetime and ANOTHER CHILD TO HOLD) This is not the live-version of the song. Great song. 5 stars. "I've Come To Serve" from the album WATCH THE LAMB, 1988) is a good song. 5 stars "Isaiah 53" from THE ALTAR. Song based on Isaiah 53, the lyrics are straight from the Bible. 4 stars "Watch The Lamb" (from Watch the Lamb) is probably the best Ray Boltz song ever. An incredibly beautifully moving emotionally-stirring song. 5 stars. "The Hammer" (from THE ALTAR) is an okay song for me, but not a favorite. 3 stars "At The Foot of the Cross" (from NO GREATER SACRIFICE) is another good song. 4 stars. "He's Alive" (from THE CLASSICS) is an update of a Don Francisco song. I love Don Francisco's version...but not the "updated" version by Boltz. 3 stars. "There Stood A Lamb" (from NO GREATER SACRIFICE) is another good good song. 4 stars. Very typical Boltz style. "Sent By The Father" (from A CHRISTMAS ALBUM) is the closing song of the album. It's a nice song 4 stars. There is not much new material on THE UNCHANGING STORY, but it's a nice edition to your collection if you're missing some of his albums. It serves both as a "life of Jesus" cd and a greatest hits collection." |
