"I first got this CD two years ago. And I still love it as much now as I did then.
This CD features the fabulously swinging Ray Brown Trio. Pianist Gene Harris offers up wonderful soulful, bluesy solos and drummer Jeff Hamilton is completely supportive with either brushes or sticks. Ray, Gene, and Jeff are so tight together- starting with the standard "Days of Wine and Roses". Gene always solos well and Ray takes one of his best solos here too.
Jobim's "How Insensitive" is swung gently, "My Foolish Heart" is played tenderly, "Please Send Me Someone To Love" is a straight mix of swinging blues and gospel. Fat's Waller's "Ain't Misbehavin" is played at a slow swing tempo and features Gene with an amazing ending on the chord pattern 2-5-3-6 (for those who know music). "Things Ain't What They Used To Be" is a slow arrangent with Ray playing the melody- one of the great bass solos in history. Gene also contributes a stunning solo.
This trio sounds like a big band!!!
Get this CD- if you already know Gene Harris, then you will know that he always is spectacular. If you don't know of Gene Harris, then this CD would be a great place to start."
Excellent CD

"Ray Brown and Gene Harris do a great job on this CD. It not only inspired me to practice more as a bassist, but to listen to Gene Harris and Jeff Hamilton more.
Overall, this is a great trio worth listening too. Just to enjoy as a jazz enthusiast or as a musician this is a must have. Plus, Ray Brown is a must have for anyone who loves Jazz!"
