CD Reviews

Another Excellent Scott Release!!
J. Alexander | San Diego, CA | 04/14/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)

"I can't get enough music by Raymond Scott (is there any music more delightful?). When I saw this new release of original recordings of Scott's big band I snatched it up at an 'unbelievably low price'. I must say, it compares very favorably with the recent Metropole Orchestra/Beau Hunks arrangements.

Here is a short description and track list I found online:

Pianist, composer and arranger Raymond Scott was one of America's most original and inventive musicians who led a highly popular dance orchestra through the 1940s. Scott's tuneful, jolly music may best be remembered for numerous scores used for cartoon classics from "Looney Tunes" to "Merrie Melodies". Compilation annotation and discography by Big Band specialist Brian Belton. This 24 track CD features the songs:

1. Pretty Little Petticoat

2. At An Arabian House Party

3. Bird Seed Special

4. A Million Dreams Ago

5. The Peanut Vendor

6. The Toy Trumpet

7. Christmas Night In Harlem

8. Tiajuana
