CD Reviews

I laughed, I cried. And then I finally got it unwrapped.
D. Maynard | Sparta, TN | 07/24/2008
(3 out of 5 stars)

"It's an okay album. Nothing brilliant here. Surprisingly (to me, anyway) the music is consistently better than the spoken-word comedy, which strays from the usual Red State Update format and suffers for it. These guys are great when discussing Obama's flag pin, but talking about selling trash at a yard sale? I'd say none of the spoken bits are above the level of a slightly below-average Red State Update video. The boys are just out of their element in these skits, I feel.

As I said, with perhaps the exception of "Noodles...", the music is good here. Sgt. Pepper it is not, but the songs are enjoyable, funny, and well-performed. I wouldn't be surprised to hear a couple of these songs ("If I Was You" particularly) on my local country radio station.

All in all, I'd say if you enjoy the Red State Update boys, this CD is worth it, if only as a way of giving something back to they who have given us so many laughs over the years.

PS - I agree with Dunlap. I hate McMinnville too."
