"It's tough to stay objective when listening to a new artist release that is usually not being promoted and pushed by a major label. With all of the slick production today the little guy usually doesn't have a chance but "The Reels" prove here that this bare bones recording of "Bare Bone" is Bad to the Bone. It really makes me blue that the samples of each song here just don't even begin to do these players justice. Trust me.....THESE GUYS ARE GOOD, NO....GREAT. As I listened to this disc, with my lady, Kimberley, I was hearing B.B. King, Stevie Ray Vaughn, ZZ TOP and a cut called "Early in the Evening" comes on she says Stray Cats. Let me tell you, These Cats are not Strays! Masterminded by the soulful Lanny Ray and most of the songs penned by same with Pat Anthony on Bass and Dylan Sardo bangin out the skins "The Reels" are for REAL. If the Stray Cats weren't your cup of joe you still can't help but like these guys. All of a sudden there's early Zep and a young Jimmy Page as on "Soul Blue" Are you Dazed and Confused yet. There's really not a bad cut on this disc, in fact, it prompted my Kim to say that except for only a handful of albums by the likes of "The Eagles", "Elton John" and Edwin McCain that this was an album that she totally dug every song on and that's while hearing it for the first time. But what's not to love? These guys are tight and have an edge about 'em that will cut you. So what?! Big deal?! Who cares?! What do these cats got that any other blues band aint got. Two Words...Lanny Ray. That's right, this cat is smooth. His lyrics hit home! His axe sings as sweetly as any blues master and his voice is smokey and yet silky smooth as highlighted on the cut "Baby, Baby (Just don't want to leave)". Don't pass up this cd kids. Run as fast as you can and buy this one because the world has a true genius here and we gotta get these cats back in the studio to give us some more. And one more thing; Yeah, I know Lanny Ray. I've even sat in on the drums with him in the past. But the truth is I actually sat down to write him a bad review and then realized that there was nothing here that was bad about it. So, I say again....You want the blues. I know I do and "The Reels" will get you reelin'. For REAL. Buy "Bad Bone" today, now, DO IT........I'm waiting.......Order it. Tell 'em Toz sent ya. Thanks Lanny Ray! Love Ya Man!!!!"
