For a Romantic

"This is one of Reinhard's early albums. He is an eclectic writer and one of the best balladeers around. Hands-down, his "Herbstgewitter uber Dachern" is the most romantic and beautifully crafted love song I have ever heard, in any language (although it helps if you can understand what he is saying-- it begins -- with my apologies to Reinhard for a loose translation that lacks the beauty of the original language: "Autumn storms above the rooftops, winter snowstorms full of anger, spring tempest in the leaves of last autumn, summer wind in the ripening corn -- If I had never seen any of that, if I had seen only the wind in your hair, blind to everything else, I would still say that I knew the wind...." ). It is worth buying the album if only this one song were on it.... But wait--there's more -- "In Tyrannis" is a dark glimpse into a prison that is likely on Amnesty International's list of places we need to shut down. "Annabelle, ach Annabelle" a biting satire of a young Fraulein who is "o so refreshingly destructive....". If you understand the language, you will LOVE this album. If you are learning German, this will help. If you just love beautifully crafted melodies, Reinhard Mey is worth a listen!"
