"Its unbelieveble to see how many hitsingles Rene Froger has made in his home country Holland since 1987 when his first single "Love Leave Me" was small radio hit but was noticed by former MTV VJ Adam Curry who had a music program on Dutch tv called Countdown when he left to the states he asked Rene to sing a song for his last episode as host,Rene had picked a song called "Winter In America" wich was a hit in the late 70's by Doug Ashdown. after that tv show and many positive reactions rene's record companny decided to record it and release it on single,just several weeks after his first national tv apperance the single was a top 5 hit in the Dutch charts and even was complimented by Asdown as one of the best covers he ever heard. Not long after that Frogers debut album "Who dares Wins" was certified Gold and the 27 year singer from Amsterdam was a national star. He continued to record the follow up album "You're My Everything"wich was also gold by the end of 1989, in that same year he also had a#1hit for a fund raising project in africa "Alles kan een mens gelukkig maken" would be his only Dutch song he ever recorded because his main goal was to sing English.The 90's would be dominated by Froger hits the 1990 album also went gold and he had three top ten hits "Just Say Hello!" The Love Of The Year" and "Nobody Else" te same story with '91 Album "Matters Of The Heart" gold and paltinum (and awardes with EDISON award for best album national)in 1992 there was an greatest Hits album released "Sweet Hello's&Sad Goodbeys" that included 4 new songs of wich 2 became also top 10 hits,the single "This Is The Moment" became a classic(what My way was for Sinatra,this would be for Froger)at the end of 1992 after a national tour and three major shows in the Rotterdam Ahoy sporting palace,the album was awarded with 5 times Platinum,the now superstar became a megastar keeping Michael jackson and Madonna far behind him on the charts. After that every album "The Power Of Passion"(1993) "Walls Of Emotion"(1994) "Live In Concert" (1995) would be at least double platinum and awarded with the Edison for best album ,in 1995 he would be the first Dutch performer to have sold out 2 shows(sold out in 30 minutes) in a football stadium 2 nights in front of 120,000 fans. An artist of this caliber was never seen before in this small country of 15 million people,The next album "Illegal Romeo" wich was recorded in New York and L.A with the producers from Mariah carey and Celine dion was also certified gold and Platinum . In 1997 after all the succses and masive touring and being in the spotlights he took a year off, thinking about if he still wanted to go international. After sevaral failed singles in THE USA and Japan and almost being divorced he thought is was not worth it all,he was happy with his succses back home. In February '98 his 10th album was released "Home Again" was gold in one day and in less than a month later platinum. after another succsesfull year of hits and more than a 100 sold out concerts,he came in contact with the producers from Cher,Lionel richie and Tina Turner and recorded the Album "I Don't Break Easy"(1999)in London. The first single "Crazy Way about you" reached #3 in the dutch charts,but the Album did not sell as fast as al his other ones,maybe because the fans where used to his pop songs and love ballads and this was more a dance album. in the early weeks of 2000 the album was still certified gold. Afetr 13 years of major touring and massive chart domination he decided to return the Feyenoord Football stadium for a onetime Greatest Hits concert,wich was broadcasted on national TV live and over the internet,just several weeks before the show the double album "All The Hits" was released with more than 34 hitsingles and 2 new songs. after the amazing telivized live show the album was awarded with gold and platinum and the 1999 release from "I don't braek easy" also went paltinum. In 2001 the release of the new album "Internal affairs" was supposed to be released around 14 september,but with the 9/11 tragedy he didn't think it was right to come with a new album when the whole world is in schock,in stead it was released in November of that yaer opening with the song "Freefall" that has the prayer of our father in the beginnig as a tribute to all the victims of the terible events.2002 was another succsesfull year of touring and was closed with 4 shows in The ahoy sporting palce exactly 10 years after he performed there for the first time. In december 2002 the album "Sweet Hello's part II was released with als his hits from after 1992 the package also inluded a DVD with the amazing show he gave in november that year in Ahoy.2003 was a clam down year with just some small 1 hour shows around the country and getting inspration and songs in the US for a new album in 200?. The next big event is planed in may 2004 when it will be the first time he will performe in the Amsterdam Arena, the stadium of his home town football club AJAX the 4 shows(65.000 people every night) are all sold out and this year Holland's biggest star will be back in the spotlights again.
