Return Of The Renegade? Rather Cap D return to All Natural

"Unfortunately, Chicago underground MC Capidal D continues to sleep walk through albums since his fantastic debut with All Natural... this isn't the worst album you've ever heard but it is guilty of an almost worse crime in being nearly unmemorable. Lyrics, beats, guest appearences (including the always solid One Be Lo), even the cover artwork, everyone involved seems to be in cruise-control here. Song tittles like The Come Up, Nickel and Dime, and Blow are just as uninteresting and cliched as the names implie (The Come Up even starts with the uncharacteristic line "let's make this money brother, so put the gun up"?!) ,however; there are some nice tracks going on too including Game in the Mic (with a nice crooning sample in the chorus), Rock Me, Bright Lights, and my personal favorite Shabazz (which features D calmly rhyming a story over minimalist production mixed with action movie samples). Hard to say who would like this more, people who are already fans of Cap D or people that have never heard of him? The production here is considerably different from what he's normally spit on (the entire Molemen crew is absent?) and his lyrics aren't as on point either but he still does bring the same old school flow and delivery you expect (which kinda meshes weird with the production and is one of the problems). I guess for those unfamiliar with Capital D I'd recommend checking out his first All Natural album instead, while those that are already fans should probably find this worthy of giving a glance even though it may dissapoint (but he's been doing that for awhile anyways so...). 3 stars seems a little high but this album did grow on me a little as I listened to it more."
