"This record is not getting the play it deserves. I'd watch out for this guy. There isn't a bad cut on the record."
Beautiful album

"To be honest, I never paid much attention to drums in a jazz ensemble. Sax and piano (aka, "the tune") were the ones that determined my "ratings." However, this album totally changed my perception of jazz drums and drummers. The drums here not only accentuate and highlight other instruments, keep the beat going and fill in the blanks with delightful twists, but also take center stage and hold you in awe. Now as I listen to other jazz albums, I start to appreciate the different styles of drumming and how each adds a unique flair to the tunes.

Every song is unique in its own way, and there is an even distribution of the fast and lively and the slow and dreamy. My favorites are New Scene, We'll be Together Again, Savoy Song, Clear the Way, and The Best Thing for You. Savoy Song is quickly becoming the Most Played song in my iTune Library. It's soulful, sensual, richly layered with sentiments, and makes a perfect song for midnight or early morning listening. The Best Thing for You features a long and impressive drum solo 1/3 into the song.

Highly recommended."
