Great Jazz Guitarist = Great Brazilian Jazz Album
Papetti | Mexico City | 04/07/2006
(5 out of 5 stars)
"Ricardo had 3-4 albums that went number one on the Jazz genre back in the late 80's early 90's, and this one is one of them.
Sky Light is a very well balanced album with Ricardo's usual impressive technique both on Violao (Acoustic Guitar) and on Guitarra (Electric Guitar);
The themes are also very well balanced between fast-paced cuts such as 1) You Can Get What You Want, 4) The Rio Thing or 8) Hangin' Out, to beautiful Jazz ballads like 5) Magical Fantasy, 6) Cats or 9) Her Eyes.
And, once again (as it's always typical in Ricardo's albums), the line up of luminaries who play in this album is a m a z i n g; check it out:
- Gary Meek / Sax
- Luiz Avellar / Pianos
- Nico Assumpcao / Bass
- Armando Marcal / Percussions
- Paulo Braga / Drums
- Don Grusin / Keyboards
- Paulinho DaCosta / Percussions
- Alex Acuna / Drums
- Russell Ferrante / Keyboards
- Toninho Horta / Rhythm Acoustic Guitars
- Ernie Watts / Sax
- Abraham Laboriel / Bass
etc.
etc.
etc.
This album has been out of print for years now, so if you find it used; don't hesitate; it'll bring you a great deal of avan-garde Brazilian Jazz.
