CD Reviews

COXA is the most fun you will have (legally) this year.
Bill Binkelman, Wind and Wire | Minneapolis, MN United States | 06/28/1999
(5 out of 5 stars)

"COXA, which is your hip-bone, is one of the best albums of this or any year. Richard Bone, one of the true wizards of electronic music, has produced a combination homage/interpretation recording of the great jazz musicians of the '50s like Cal Tjader and Creed Taylor and given it a '90s electronica spin. This is sexy and fun music, designed for sitting back and listening to while sipping Johnnie Walker Black in a dimly lit room. The rhythms are sensuous, the keyboard work fantastic, and the total vibe of the CD is one of "cool." If you're hep anough for it, COXA will make your backbone tingle. Definitely a must have for lovers of electronica, provided they are not addicted to only 160 BPM!"
Just too Hip
Boudica | Ohio USA | 01/07/2002

"Coxa is the "hip bone" and this CD and Mr. Bone are exactly that... hip. This is jazz that is hot to the touch and cool to the ear. Mr. Bone offers here his interpretation of some great jazz inspired by the likes of Creed Taylor and Rudy Van Gelder (from the 50's, kids... can you dig it?) I am a jazz lover and this really gave me the chills as I listened to the mixture of jazz keyboards with the electronic sound.Take a walk on the wild side and give this a listen. I think you will be pleasantly surprised by the wonderful mastery of jazz Mr. Bone has to offer."
