"It's too funny that FYE had this actually in their easy listening section instead of comedy, but I digress.
Basically, if you enjoy hearing "swankified" or lounge versions of modern songs of every genre, than Richard Cheese is the artist for you.
For this particular CD, Richard let his fans pick which songs that he would lounge up this time around. While not quite as strong as a CD as his preious release "I'd Like a Virgin" ,this is still hilarious stuff. Unless you're a prude that doesn't like to hear people make fun of popular music in such a manner as this.
Highlights for me on this particular disc have to be Slipknot's "People Equal Sh*t", 2 Live Crew's "Me So Horny", Jane's Addiction's "Been Caught Stealing" (complete with a hilarious cameo by Phil Spector), Alice in Chains' "Man in the Box", Live Aid's "We Are the World", his inspired mambo take on U2's "Sunday Bloody Sunday" and Beastie Boy's "Brass Monkey".
If you've got a twisted sense of humor (and happen to like Frank Sinatra) then Richard Cheese might seem like a genius to you."

"The strange dichotomy that comes out as Richard Cheese (and Lounge Against the Machine) is truly a unique experience that lounge fans will go crazy for. This man and his band have made the pop songs the youth of today know enjoyable for a crowd who otherwise would have disregarded them. He's got the voice of an angel, and the mouth of a sailor (only where appropriate, though). He ranks right up with the best crooners of all time, but in true lounge lizard style, he doesn't take hiself too seriously while he's on the mic (evident on tracks 7, 8, 13, 16... well, pretty much the whole thing). His rendition of "Enter Sandman" on this CD brings elements of a WWII USO show (where the legendary crooners got their start) and evolves right over your speakers to a modern lounge jam you can sip a martini to, all while wearing your best pink tiger-striped velvet tuxedo. If you're a fan of cover music, modern pop, alternative or rap, and lounge, then this fuses these all together in perfect balance. You're never going to know what exactly to expect, except for a jazzy tune you can snap your fingers to, and you probably already know the lyrics. A good time to be had by mature audiences everywhere, baby!"

"Wow!
Richard Cheese's "I'd like a Virgin" LP was fantastic, and I loved playing it to my friends unanounced, just so I could watch their reactions when they realised that the croony, lounge laden track with Richard Cheese's shwanky vocals was actually a cover version of one of their beloved bands!
On his latest, I can't believe it but he is actually funnier! I think this is partly because Richard's choice of incredibly full on songs to cover - I mean, the first two songs alone make my jaw drop on the floor they are just so over the top!
Thing is - these are *popular* songs; Ricard covers hits by other artists that people went out and bought. When you hear lyrics in the Richard Cheese & Lounge against the machine context, it compleltely suberts them! Serious "social statements", hard core rap, anti-social heavy metal, love songs, explict descriptions of sexual acts become hilarious and more shocking when Loungefied!
Musically, it is excellent. The band can really play! The addition of horns and other instruments adds to the luxuriousness of the music. Lounge against the Machine are one tight unit, baby!
Fave track? Gee that is hard... hmm I love Richards special gu
est on the "Girl is mine" - this CD deserves and extra star for this track alone! Buy it and have a listen!
Recommended to any fan of comedy, I would say Frank Zappa fans would also get into the parody of Richard Cheese. It's rare to find comedy music that is this well excecuted, and this funny!
I agree with Richard Cheese - the world needs "More Dick, Less Bush""

"I first herd Richard Cheese like most people in the remake of "Dawn Of The Dead," and was hooked instantly. While casually browsing the CDs at the mall, I came across this playing on the sampler. I gave it a listen and laughed at every track, getting the evil eye from the clerk. My favorite tracks would have to be "Been Caught Stealing" (Where Richard faces some unforseen problems), "The Girl Is Mine (With a "Very Special" guest), and "Let's Get It Started" (Where Richard adds his own spin). This CD is worth your time and money. It's just a shame that not many people have herd of Richard and his interesting interpretation of popular music."
Not his best disc, but still great!

"When I first heard that Dick was going to record a CD of tracks requested by his fans I was very optimistic; there are a lot of songs out there that would be great 'swankified'. Tracks like the 'Mister Sandman' version of Metallica's 'Enter Sandman' just didn't work for me though. Nor did his newly redone version of 2 Live Crew's 'Me So Horny' (if you want a great Hip-Hop track done Lounge style, listen to 'Gin And Juice' from Dick's 'I'd Like A Virgin' CD).
But what boosts the rating of this CD are tracks like 'The Girl Is Mine' (with a very special 'guest' to perform the duet), his Mambo version of 'Sunday Bloody Sunday', the enebriated swan-song of 'Somebody Told Me', and 'Been Caught Stealing' (complete with 'Phil Spector's' reply to the barking dog on the track).
The comedy on the CD is also a plus: the recording artist's tantrum while being corrected on Bell Biv Devoe's 'Dome' (or is it 'Do Me'?) and the touch of added lyrics about Michael Jackson on 'We Are The World' brought a smile to MY face.
Over all, a great disc to own if you enjoy Lounge OR comedy."
