Listenable But Not So Memorable

"I first came to the music of Richard Galliano about eight years ago via an amazon recommendation made because of my purchases of CDs by Astor Piazzolla. French Touch was my first Galliano acquisition and since that time I have purchased many more.

French Touch is almost uniformly listenable, but is not nearly so memorable as some subsequent Galliano releases. I best enjoy the opener Bebe, the magnificent jazzy J.F., Caruso, and Sanfona. Listeners may thrill to demonstrations of Galliano's dexterity on A French Touch and on Heavy Tango. I enjoy something about most of the rest of the CD with the exception of Passarinho, on which I find the pounding and whistling rather obnoxious.

If you have not heard Galliano but do like the accordion, you will find in Richard Galliano a man who knows how to make the most of its possibilities. On this CD, he demonstrates his knack for demonstrating those possibilities for nearly forty-five minutes. If you don't choose French Touch, by all means buy at least one of his many other well-regarded albums. You won't be sorry."
