"Richard Searles ... oh how I wish I could play the guitar like him. I absolutley LOVE this CD. If you like smooth, breathy folksy classical guitar with Celtic over and under tones, this is for you. Buy this CD and you won't be disapointed. But only buy this one is you already own Emerald Castles by Richard Searles. That's his best work. This one is great, but that one is better."
Aptly named, and well done!

"Well, I will freely admit to being a fan of Richard Searles, for his cd's are always worth listening to, for their varied and thoughtful content, as well as superb musicianship. Green Man is similar to his others in that regard, but different in that there seem to be more original Searles compositions on this recording than on some of his others. 'Dragonfly' is the opening piece, and is one of my favorites for it's rather mystical melody. I know, I know..what's a 'mystical melody'? For me, it's one that's evocative of a certain type of mood or experience, and 'Dragonfly' embodied mystical for me (a bit dark, questioning, sensuous). His title work, 'Green Man' reminded me of a small stream in the woods on a sunny afternoon. Searles intersperses his originals with Irish, Scottish and Welsh traditional aires, giving a nice balance to the cd. "The Black Horse' is a traditional Welsh tune, and shouldn't be confused with 'The Black Nag'; very different tune. I recommend this cd highly, for it's overall superb listening qualities of variety, excellent musicianship and general ambiance."
