"Latest", but far from "greatest"

"Made in USA in 2003, Serial# CLP-1305-2, Playing Time 50:49This CD isn't your "ordinary" greatest hits; it includes 14 re-recorded tracks (April 2003) of older material, taken from the repertoire of his solo career and previous collaborations (like the McCoys).During the 90's, Rick's albums covered the blues genre through 5 albums... in 2002, he presented us a "jazzier" sound through his "Free Ride" CD."Greatest & Latest" returns us to rock, performed by a guitar-bass-drums trio. Unfortunately, some tracks do not stand the test of time. While some material benefits from a "face-lift" with the current technology, other songs (like "C'mon Let's Go" and "Beat The Clock") sound stale and out-of-fashion; I guess certain songs should just be left alone.Rick his a great guitar player; he's amply demonstrated his talent and versatility, but the performances on this album are somewhat stale and too often feel like they're performed by a "cover band".Interesting for the fan, but to be avoided by someone who's looking for a conventional "greatest hits" album: get the "Rock And Roll Hoochie Koo" CD from 1996 on Epic/Legacy instead."

"A really fun album for those who were around when Rick made the All American Boy LP, and shortly after. These tracks come from that era, although it is stated on the CD that these tracks were recorded 2003!?!? They are probably alternate takes which have then been remastered. The liner notes are poor with significant mistakes."
