"THE DEFINITIVE COLLECTION is perhaps the greatest single disc collection of Rick James hits. Sixteen top 25 r&b hits are included here in chronological order along with the popular album cut "Fire And Desire". All songs are presented in 7-inch single edits except for "You and I", "Mary Jane", "Fire and Desire", "Cold Blooded" and "Ebony Eyes". Bonus points for including "High On Your Love" and "Can't Stop", two top 20 r&b hits rarely found on a Rick James compilation. For the casual fan, this collection is just what the doctor ordered.

"Rick James is one of Funks all time greats and will be untill the end of time. His fusion of drugs, sexual themes, and down right "Ballsy" lyrics made Rick a favorite among the Gente back home, I mean all the homeboys loved him, the white boys loved him and the blacks loved him. Classic hits like Superfreak, Give it to me Baby, You and I, and Dance wit Me will always be heard at an Old School Party or Old School Club Night as well as weddings...great party jams!!! He was also very inclined to sing the slow jam with the same passion...Ebony Eyes with Smokey Robinson was an instant hit and remains a classic. Rick James also introduced us to the great Tina Marie and their hit "Fire and Desire" has the same staying power as all the songs I've mentioned...classic "Mary jane " has remained an anthum for the herb indulgents of the world...Rick James is well represented completly here on the Definitive collection and is a must have in any muisc, funk, old school collectors collection..."Rick James was a hell of an artist!!!""

"OK, I'm usually not a fan of this type of music, but after hearing some of the songs I can totally understand the appeal. I have to say Dave Chapelle had something to do with me buying this album, but I have no regrets. Not my usual punk rock, not even close, but hell, I've got an open mind and this is some good music."
