CD ReviewsA fair effort by a Golden Oldie Mr. John Evans | Pasadena, USA | 06/07/2010 (3 out of 5 stars) "Ringo, the sometimes forgotten Beatle, made a great album back in the '70s called simply "Ringo." Since then he's not recorded anything very special, but there was a lot of fuss about this album so I ordered it from Amazon. Reading some of the reviews, I thought this might be the new breakthrough for Ringo. There are a few decent tracks on this album, but this isn't one I'll be playing regularly. In fact it's a real mix and quite inconistent. Ringo sings very well, but many of the tracks simply don't have the musical quality to make this album special. If you are a Beatles fan, you'll enjoy giving this one a few plays. If you want Ringo's best album, stick with "Ringo." If you want the best Beatles solo albums, this one sadly doesn't get in the top 20. Check out the excellent video interviews with Ringo about the album." Ringo Starr's Y Not Excellent for those who want to rock Laura Neff | Midway, GA, US | 06/11/2010 (5 out of 5 stars) "Ringo Starr, one of two original Beatles' members brings a little bit of new style rock and roll to the smooth sound we remember from the original Beatles group. With songs like Walk With You and Peace Dream and others, this brings memories to the surface of the Beatles and the love we all had for each of their original songs. Yet, songs like Time and Y Noth and others would show a little bit of the new stylings that actually create an eclectic flavor I happen to love. I would definitely recommend this album to any who would ask. It comes with five stars as the top but deserves many more in my humble opinion." Pleasant album, but inconsequential F. A. Lage Filho | Sao Paulo, Brazil | 06/30/2010 (3 out of 5 stars) "Ringo's "Y Not" contains several pleasant tracks (I like the rockers best) and his drumming (the liner notes tell he's the only drummer featured) is solid good, even with some interesting fills occasionally. The other musicians seem all competent enough....but the album does not go far as far as punch/ambition/outstandingness are concerned. It makes for a pleasant enough 30 minute listening time but does not stick to the mind."
