"Even though he died in the late 1970s, Rino Gaetano the Italian singer songwriter continues to sell a good number of records in Italy. This double CD is the only compilation of his music worth buying.If anything, there is a bit TOO much stuff here. But even if time has not been kind to some of Gaetano's more adventurous recordings which now sound the "wrong kind" of 1970s and dated, there are enough classic songs on this double CD to make up for the clinkers. It's certainly not the usual cookie cutter pop one associates with Italy. The better songs tend to be mid 1970s rock pop outings made memorable by Rino Gaetano's gravelly vocals (gravellier than Joe Cocker's) and the sharp irony of his lyrics, which have pretty much survived the passage of time. A lot of the backing is musically cute and quite unselfconscious. This collection is well worth the money and even if your italian is not that good, the booklet contains the lyrics to all the songs."

"When you talk about Rino Gaetano, you are not speacking about a classical italian singer. It's a kind of old-fashion-style guy, nice music, wonderful lyrics (if you can understand italian, of course...). If you want to understand how 40-50 years old italian girl and guy think, well, you are at the right place!"
