"Just got this CD and it is both smooth and groovin'.
The mix of electronica and smooth jazz is just right - just when it seems like it's getting a little too electronic, it slips into jazz... just when it's getting too jazzy, it slips into ambient and back to electronica.
There isn't a bad track on the record. If you just want to chill out this CD does the trick. Great for long car rides. Also the last track is a killer, it belongs on a soundtrack. Unreservedly recommended, a must-buy."
Intelligent, captivating lounge music

"This is a brilliant collection of jazz/electronica fusion. I search all over the place for good downtempo lounge music. This CD is one of the best I have ever heard in the genre. They remind me a lot of Thievery Corporation. This is definetly one you can just pop in the CD player and let it go, and that is rare for most any CD. If you like indie/instrumental/electronica/jazz, you cant really go wrong here. I highly recommend this one for your collection. The entire disc is very focused and consistent, there are no surprise tracks that seem to not belong...it flows together, the whole CD. Its like one long song. A wonderful journey indeed."
Excellent modern midtempo

"This is a GREAT disc. I bought this disc because I know Rip from his recording website ProRec, so I thought I would check out his work. BOY was I surprised. This CD is one part funky, one part groovy, one part jazzy, and one part sexy. It is the first choice for those laid-back-bottle-of-wine (and what-have-you) parties with a bunch of friends and some great conversation. The sample tracks don't do it justice because it is a single hour-long piece of music that needs to be heard all of the way through to be appreciated. My favorite part of the disc are tracks 7-10 taken together."
Oh, yeah.

"I've never heard of Rip Rowan before, but I'm definitely keeping an eye out for future releases. Listening to this CD is like finding that rare gem that makes you smile all over. I have no favorite track on this CD--the whole thing is good from start to finish."
"Let me slip into something a little more comfortable...."

"This could have been the kind of cd you sometimes find in expensive hotel rooms with stereo systems and cushy, thick bedding with superior mattresses. You get my drift. Rhythm/Pleasure music is something some people use to get in the mood or stay in the groove. Whatever your pleasure.
However, Rip Rowan's collection here goes way way beyond the typical thumpety-thump-thump-thump mixed with synthesized subliminal moans. You actually can listen to this CD, use it for relaxation and uh, yup, a romantic interlude.
In particular, "Opium" and "Midnight in Damascus" make for a moody ambience of smooth jazz with a Mideast twist. "Elementality" has some pretty good electric guitar --a rock/jazz/lounge fusion that works.
This is what's so terrific about Rowan's work; instead of boring, utilitarian mood music, this is actually quite listenable and might even create a really intense, smoky, intimate, exotic mood, whether you are wearing an eyemask and trying to chill out in your Lazy-Boy or entertaining one very special guest. Highly recommended to anyone who wants mood music in this kind of genre but is bored by the usual stuff. Definitely high class, and very sensual. Mmmmmm. Very nice. Do that again!"
