CD ReviewsFor all the idiots out there... phatpudgybaby | 01/02/2006 (5 out of 5 stars) "I just think you should know that this has nothing to do with the european Riverside: The one that has been compared to Opeth and Porcupine Tree. I see that some of you have bought this album thinking it was done by them...Ha!" "Riverside -- One"-of-a-kind Crissa Pap | Bloomington, CA USA | 10/20/2003 (5 out of 5 stars) "It is truly a shame that a band with so much promise was never given a chance to flourish. When Riverside's One album was released in the early 90s, it was just when grunge was getting to be popular. So Riverside was quickly overshadowed by the new trend. The 'One' album is incredibly beautiful. It has a sort of dreamy fuzziness to it reminiscent of the shoe-gazing genre. The lightly floating guitar riffs and sweet/thoughtful lyrics can only bring a smile to the listener's face. The song "Waterfall" is absolutely gorgeous, and "Mansfield Park" (my personal favorite)is sensitively written and upbeat. The whole album is a gem. There is not a single song to dislike. All you have to do is stick it in your stereo and let it play.Riverside released another album in 2002 entitled 'Taste. Even though it was put out a decade or so after 'One', it sounds as if the band took up right where they left off. The result is an album similiar to 'One' but with a little more of an edge. Riverside's first album is astonishing. There is so much talent and charm packed into it! If ever you happen upon it, don't hesitate to add it to your collection. Because this 'One' is unforgettable!!" Much More Than Waterfall Jeffrey Duerr | Sykesville, Maryland USA | 07/26/2007 (4 out of 5 stars) "As I was learning about "The Ocean Blue", I had seen that this band mentioned now and then. Though I really never had taken in interest in them until this year, learning that "Steve Lau" from TOB had produced this album. Until the album came I had found out that the videos for "Waterfall" and "Cinnamon Eyes" were on youtube. When I had recieved this album, I had mainly listened to "Waterfall" because that was there main song I knew and I had originally didn't care for "Cinnamon Eyes" that much. As I had listened to the album more, I learned that there was no other song like "Waterfall", but there was many other great songs. This album even though great, could have used some more songs that would have got this band a second hit. The other songs on this album I would recommend besides "Waterfall" and "Cinnamon Eyes" are "General Nature", A Slow Fall and Mansfield Park. As you may know or not, "Riverside" had recorded another album for Sire, but "Riverside" was dropped before it was released. As looking on other sites and amazon, I had found out that other label released "Taste". But I have never had come by it. So I had bought it off of riversidetaste, in which Glenn "Riverside's Singer" still sells it for $19 including shipping. If you like "Alternative Pop" this album comes recommended."
