"Rob Swift is a great turntablist. As one-fourth of the mighty New York DJ crew the X-Ecutioners (along with Roc Raida, Mista Sinista and Total Eclipse), Rob Swift has been chopping wax for a while, winning competition after competition with the X-men collective. This 1997 mixtape (which I could ONLY find on here, no record store has it!) is a nice dip back into funky breaks with some excellent scratch-work courtesy of "the ablist."I can't give it four or five stars, because not much of it is Swift's own work. It's just some smooth beats and the occasional Bruce Lee interview. However, be SURE to check out "Rob Swift vs. Rahzel." At a live concert, Swift challenges the Roots' resident voice-box-DJ/beatbox/sound-effect-man to imitate his routines, taking a few classic breaks. Rahzel transforms into "Super DJ" and answers each time. It's something else, folks... for real. While there aren't many actual songs or rhymes on this tape, Swift is the real star, letting his scratching take center stage. It's worth the price just to pop in and listen to in the car. Just don't get caught doing those damn dance moves in the car."
