A new meaning to "ROCK Around The Clock"!

"Genuine fans of 'rock music' will no doubt HATE this album because of the way it ruins timeless classics (but this is Jive Bunny after all). I, however, absolutely LOVE this CD because it evokes so many happy memories from my school days. Basically, "Rock The Party" pays tribute to the more successful (if not commercial) rock hits from the early 70s to the early 90s. However, the majority of this hour-long megamix is dedicated to the 'big hair' days of the 1980s when rock ruled the musical world (well, almost!). Every major rock hit, spanning over twenty years, appears on this album paying homage to legendary rock performers such as, Meat Loaf, Guns N Roses, Deep Purple, ZZ Top, Whitesnake, The Black Crowes, Joan Jett & The Black Hearts, Billy Idol, Derek and the Dominoes, Pink Floyd and Def Leppard to list several bands mimicked. Some of the uncredited artists sound a bit suspect, but it's the songs you'll be interested in most of all. Classics such as, 'Smoke On The Water', 'Bat Out Of Hell', 'White Wedding', 'Hard To Handle', Black Betty', 'Sweet Child O' Mine' (this really is a suspect recording!), 'Walk This Way', 'The Wall' and 'Layla' all take us back to a time when it was possible to record a great rock track without resorting to using expletives and explicit lyrics. How times have changed! What prevents "Rock The Party" from receiving 5 stars is the use of a drum beat throughout the megamix. At times, you hardly notice it, whereas there's times it's rather annoying. Still, this is a Jive Bunny album after all, so you have to accept it. The quality of the mixing is just right too. It's not over-the-top as evident on other Jive Bunny albums - that would only ruin these rock classics. Instead, it's a perfect PARTY megamix for those who like their music a little more on the adult side.For those who are Jive Bunny fans, but are unsure about this album, I suggest you purchase "Hop Around The Clock" which features a six minute "Rock The Party" megamix - a taster for this particular album. The edited megamix doesn't do this CD justice, still, it'll show you how Jive Bunny handles rock music...."
