Themes like old times, but not new recording

"I bought this as an LP nearly forty years ago. My brother and I looked forward, for years, for this to release on CD.
What a huge disappointment. While the music might still be good, the engineering here is very, very bad. The distortion of the instruments, especially louder, high sounds like horns are almost unbearable. The louder passages, using the full orchestra are distorted beyond anything I can remember hearing. We are not nit pickers, it was so distorted we could not listen to it.
The volume is flat, there is no dynamic range, the ability for music on CD to play louder and softer passages. Records had to have a very limited dynamic range and, for this reason, we feel that the original masters may not have been used. It is if they recorded this, it seems, from an old record.

This CD set is great!

"If you are one of the people who acquired the old Phase 4 stereo album "The Return of James Bond in Diamonds are Forever - and other Secret Agent Themes" you will love this CD set as it contains every track on that double album set. I vividly remember the bikini clad girls of the original album (reproduced in miniature on the CD jacket (the real downside of CD's in general...excellent album art is wasted on them!)) I have been looking for these tracks on CD, and now they are available. Good thing too, because I wore out the albums many years ago :-) This CD set is a real gem!"
