"God, I really hated this group first time I heard them.Some druggie cover of a Stones song.Grew up ,heard jazz & fully expanded my rock horizons,appreciated harmony & remembered that Stones tune.This album reminds me of"What's Going On" by Marvin in scope & prodution.Funny how "last call for peace " still rings true.WAR IS OVER[if you want it]
A great re-issue on One Way...... it's got soul ,rock,hendrix guitar,social concerns,Santa on some 1960's additives and Peace & Love.......
How can you go wrong?I'd give this album 5 stars but only listen to it at the holidays.many times over."

"OMG...this is REALLY different for C'mas music, and I love it! The song "Peace at Last" gives new meaning to holiday cheer (Santa's smoking that ole mistletoe..the cat is HIGH). And Minne's stratospheric vocals are fabulous, even though she was very young when this was released, her Silent Night duet with the high-octave guitar is quite chilling! If you want a true C'mas trip...listen to this while decorating and don't forget to smoke some mistletoe!"

"This group very simply made a classic album, it is funk, rock, jazz, and it really is Christmas music. Minnie Riperton's Silent Night, with psychedelic guitar riffs going under, then over her, is fabulous. Long before we had Mariah Carey as a Divah, we had Minnie Riperton with a 5 and a half octave vocal range. And she was a Singer, not a Divah, and we loved her voice.

This may not be your cup of tea, but if you want to know where music was in Chicago in 1968, or if you were alive in '68 and want a trip down memory lane - this is for you.

This classic piece is played every year when we put up and decorate our Christmas tree. Our children have grown up with it and expect to hear it too. Don't be afraid to try this one. Go with it, and imagine snow falling on State Street or Michigan Avenue, as a little music is helping heal Chicago after the violence of the Democratic Convention in the summer. A 5 star winner.
