Synopsis

Album Description
Roy is determined to change the current perception of dance music from soulless, commercialized, and sugar coated, back to the days when Chicago house ruled the dance floor. "My approach is to merge aspects of more popular genres like soul and hip-hop into my sound because there's a younger generation that may not have grown up on dance music like I did. And it's important to have better songs at varied tempos so the tracks aren't always at 127 or 125 bpm." Includes seven unreleased exclusives and an alternate, previously vinyl-only mix. For fans of Blaze, Frankie Knuckles, MAW. Personnel include: Roy Davis, Jr.; Common, Terry Dexter.

CD Reviews

Anotha undaground GOODIE!!!
inner+depth | Orange County, CA USA | 02/08/2005
(5 out of 5 stars)

"A bangin' album from Chicago's finest! Smooth beats & vocals. My favorite track is "Heavenly Father" the title alone tells you Who this song is for. Have to give it up to our Heavenly Father that makes all things possible. "Wonderin'" with Terry Dexter is another favorite along with "I Know What Your Thinkin'" Roy Davis Jr has been blessed with the talent to make beautiful music!"
Well produced but NOT original/innovative...

"This is monotonous chicago house. Elements of jazz, soul, blues, and loud vocals (TOO MUCH!) in a well-produced house album, but somehow the overall feel of the entire CD is plain and boring. Not a bit of creativity here. Not terribly bad, just stuff that you won't listen to if you have another CD around.

There's much better HOUSE music out there, the crazy loud vocals ruined this one for me."
