More deserved recognition

"Roy Hamilton's music has been overlooked in favor of more promoted work of other less-deserving artists. This voice is outstanding and commands much greater recognition. If you're familiar with his talent, then this album will add to your enjoyment of this man's repertoire. If you need an introduction to his music, the Golden Classics collection is a good place to get acquainted. Most of the songs on this newly-resurrected album are popular songs or standards of the time (late 50s) and Hamilton's treatment of them is smooth and robust. This CD also contains four bonus tracks that were originally single-only releases in the late 50s. While Collectables has an uneven reputation for the sound quality of its reissues, this is a SONY music special products production and given the vintage of these recordings, they are clean-sounding without a lot of compression from noise reduction. My only disappointment would be that the entire album is in mono which is somewhat of a surprise since some of Hamiliton's earlier late 50s material is available in stereo."
