Superb covers album

"Forget that lame review in the All Music Guide because it was written by someone who does not "get" the Rubinoos. This album is a classic covers album. For those unfamiliar with the Rubinoos they are a great power pop/soul band in the tradition of the Raspberries (but better). Whilst the Rubinoos are brilliant songwriters it is a nice change to have an album of covers done in the Rubinoos style. These songs sound great because of the beautiful vocals. Jon Rubin is a vocalist par excellence and the harmonies are first rate.The accapella version of Heroes and Villians would probably spin Brian Wilson's head if he ever had a chance to hear it. The Lou Christie song is so good that I am now going to explore his recordings."
