Signals: Rush, on CD.

"This record was a slight change for Rush, a conscious effort on their part, to attain a wider audience perhaps. Some of the songs might appear more radio friendly, than some of their previous material. In any case, a well crafted record, worth checking out."

"This is really a great album! I hear people refer to this as a "Good Effort" and "Decent Album". Neither of these terms can describe the compilation of songs we have here. This is by far my favroite Rush album that I own. I think perhaps the quality of sound is missing from this album, You fail to hear alot of the guitar work that goes on throughout the cd. I recently bought the remaster, and I can say with confidence that this is a real improvement over the original. I highly recommend upgrading if you own the original."
Mixing issues with Rush

"I watched a tv special on rush yesterday, and a new dvd set being released shortly, so i decided i would buy a few of their discs, back when i was a teenage drummer, i had the first 5 albums by them, which pert didn't even play on the early ones, but even though i REALLY REALLY REALLY love rush, the 5 discs I went out and bought ALL have sub-par mixing. i am not sure how to put it, I am not an expert, although I can mix sound on a digidesign or yamaha soundboard, but there is just something not right about their mixing. I bought Signals, Counterparts, Hemispheres and A Farewell to Kings ( had to re buy them, lost my teenage copies ), and Different Stages. Discounting the 'live' issues inherent to that kind of release, I have to say, I don't even think the 'remastered' Farewell to Kings or the remastered "hemispheres' are mixed that great. Good perhaps, but not great. I have 2 very good stereos, and a nice Sony X series walkman, with excellent sound, and a Sansa Fuze that I use to play .flac files. I tried them all and I just think there is something off about their sound mix. Of all the stuff I have bought in the last 2 days, I enjoy BY FAR AND AWAY, the raw sound on the 3rd disc of Different Stages. Not clean sound, rough, loud, frenetic at times, but for me, that is the one I enjoy the most. I still have to relisten ( and will many times ! ) to these discs, but my first thoughts were, this sound could be a LOT better. Just my 2 cents...not say that Rush isn't a great great band, and I enjoy them more than almost any other band...."
