Synopsis

Product Description
Shabda: Mantra Mysticism was originally release under the title Shabda Yoga. The Relaxation Company label redesigned the CD package and lowered the price.

Alongside the familiar Yoga practice of movement and meditation is the ancient
Yoga of Music and Chant whose goal is to open your heart, awaken your mind, and arouse your Spirit.

Music and Chant to Awaken Your Heart
3,000 years ago in the Temples of India, yogis chanted sacred Vedic mantras as a practice of meditation, inspiration and spiritual awakening. Russill Paul is a modern master of this practice, having left his career in film music to immerse himself in Monastery life and be initiated into this powerful art. Russill s evocative chanting is supported by an ensemble of traditional Indian and contemporary instrumentation. Listen quietly to go on an inward journey through meditative states, or chant along and be bathed in these healing sonic energies.

Russill presents his work on musical mysticism at retreats and learning centers worldwide. He is the author of The Yoga of Sound: Tapping the Hidden Power of Music and Chant (New World
Library), has shared the stage with many musical luminaries, and has performed for His Holiness the Dalai Lama.

(5 out of 5 stars)

"This was my third Russill Paul CD, I am a fan. I find that his music is perfect for yoga, meditation, or just relaxing. This man is incredibly talented, his vocal ability is astounding. I read his essay on the Yoga of Sound and it is absolute truth. I felt the effects before I read the essay, if that says anything. This is music for yoga and the spiritual messages (in Sanskrit)are uplifting. While the instruments played are traditional to India, there is a fusion of modern as well. It will not disappoint the Purist. These ancient chants are a soothing link to the wisdom of the past."
