This is part of a concerted effort to present, not just selections or "highlights" from servic... more »es, but entire services within their liturgical context. Many of the stichera have been re-set for this project using traditional chant melodies, which allows for a more organic blending of English text with music. This kind of careful adaptation is essential to raising the quality of Orthodox music in English.
The St Vladimir s Seminary Chorale is an ensemble composed of students, community members, alumni, and friends of the Seminary that strives to proclaim the Gospel of our Savior in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Through our music, the chorale aspires to further the seminary s witness to Christ in contemporary culture, both to Orthodox and non-Orthodox alike. The chorale seeks to provide an example of choral excellence both at the seminary and in the broader Orthodox Church.« less
