"The first time I heard Salim Nourallah (on _Polaroid_), I thought it was like listening to the best Wilco album I'd never heard. Funny thing is that I keep coming back to Nourallah's records and kinda gave up on Wilco. Nourallah writes the kind of literate pop that should make him a massive star but that doesn't seem to be much appreciated these days. And _Snowing in My Heart_ is his best--and one of the best of 2007. (Just to give you a frame of reference, the other albums in my top five would probably be Kanye West's _Graduation_, Spoon's _Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga_, Nine Inch Nails' _Year Zero_, and Andrew Bird's _Armchair Apocrypha_.) Picking a standout track for me is nearly impossible, since five of the 12 are amazing and another five are simply great. But I'm a sucker for the slow-build-and-amazing-flame-out closer, "The Terror." I bought three copies of this record (one for me and two gifts for friends who would otherwise never hear of Nourallah). Do yourself a favor and give it a try."
