"Let me start by saying right out that I love Sally Mayes. I've seen everything she's done, including her club act and her most recent appearance at New York's Town Hall doing highlights from 1943 Broadway season. This is a great, great talent, with an outsized, gorgeous voice that can sing just about anything, but something has happened along the way. Everything she does with that remarkable voice is now overdone, oversung, overstylized. (This was true of her last live appearances, where she killed "To Keep My Love Alive" bu oversinging and overacting a song that can be sung straight or deadpan and carried by the lyric.) There's so much going on in an album of interesting and electic material here, it becomes downright unlistenable. I've tried and tried, but nothing can make me like this CD, it's chalk on a blackboard. You want to hear Mayes at her absolute best, get her wondrful Comden & Green album. Everything works, and it's loaded with unforgettable performances.Skip this one."

"Sally Mayes is a treasure. She has an exceptional voice and that special ability to convey not only the words and notes of a song, but also its meaning. To be honest, not every song in this set turns me on, but there is a sufficiency of good material to make me happy I got this particular CD, which leaves me with the hope that Ms. Mayes will be putting out more recordings in the months ahead."

"I look forward to ALL of Sally's recordings because she inhabits each song she sings with a throbbing passion and a generosity of spirit that is sorely lacking in many artists. The songs she includes in "Boys and Girls Like You and Me" give Sally an opportunity to sing in an amazingly varied number of styles--and she makes splendid sounds in all of them. Listeners, such as I, who have followed Sally's career from the beginning will be thrilled to hear how Sally continues to grow and to surprise us as a recording artist. An added bonus on this CD are the wonderfully engaging arrangements by Sally's new collaborator, Dick Gallagher. Sally, I admire and adore you!"
"What you see, Is What you Hear, Trully Amazing!"

"Every now and then, someone comes along and astounds you! That's what Sally Mayes did for me. I had the privilige to meet, and take a Cabaret master class from her recently, and I will forever be a changed and better performer for it. But the trully remarkable thing about Sally Mayes, is to see her perform live, then to listen to her on CD,if you close your eyes it's like being there, right in front of her as she makes you laugh, cry, and feel what's in her heart when she sings. If you like to experience not just listen to a CD, then Sally Mayes, will touch your heart and soul, and you don't have to be a fellow performer just a tenderheart. Thank you Sally....Give us more!"
A terrific album by an amazing artist!

"Sally Mayes is one of the treasures of the New York arts scene, both as a musical theatre performer and a cabaret artist. This CD offers the best of both those worlds, as it features some great little-known theatre songs that were cut from Broadway musicals, but are gems nonetheless. The arrangements are terrific, Sally is in excellent voice, and her trademark humor and warmth are evident throughout. There are numerous highlights (including duets with former co-stars Brent Barrett & Boyd Gaines), but "In His Hands" must be amongst the finest moments she has recorded thus far, which is high praise indeed. Highly recommended!"
