The music on the album recalls the more subdued moments of the Velvet Underground (circa 1969) or perhaps Plastic Ono Band-era John Lennon. Acoustic guitar drives most of the songs restraining an edge that lurks just beneath the surface. This edge adds a sense of tension without resorting to excessive volume or aggression. The song cycle engages the listener, holding their attention until the last chord of the album fades away.
